I've not noticed a change in the amount of usage of "open" or any mental shortcuts about it since it was introduced via the term "open source" in the 1990s. If anything, there's less discussion and abuse of the term now. The only memery that I see is from OpenAI, which had aspirations to openness in the past but which today is a sham.

Facebooks open efforts here are completely great, IMHO, and have benefited me personally and professionally.
